We are not a wrestling Gym, or MMA "fight club".

We are about helping people, and our goal is to offer the cutting edge in self defence together with combat athletics, fitness, and personal growth, to every type of human body that walks through our door.  Not just 23 Year old Athletes (although they will certainly find themselves feeling very at home here as well), but to professionals who have to work 40 hour weeks. To women of all ages. To older people, looking to get into shape, have fun, and learn self defence. To people who want to invest in themselves by learning something really useful in a positive atmosphere of friendship and fun.

  • SBG intro (MMA - Mixed Martial Arts).  Introductory course covering the basics of Straight Blast Gym training methods.  Stand Up, Clinch and Ground. Non-attribute based techniques from Boxing, Thai-Boxing, Greco Roman Wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  FREE 1st introductory class
  • Thai Boxing (Muay Thai).  Learn the amazing 8 weapons of Thai Boxing with coach Trevor Lawn.

 

  • SBG 1.  Learning the fundamentals of Stand-up, clinch and ground as seen in mixed martial arts events such as the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) TM
  • BJJ 2.  Sparring based class for those who have completed the requirements of the BJJ 1 class.
  • S.T.A.B.  Straight Blast Gym's highly acclaimed method of dealing with assaults involving bladed or pointed articles.  Included within SBG curriculum.
  • Khai Bo.  The original non-contact aerobic martial arts workout combining the dynamic punching and kicking of oriental martial arts and western boxing. Very popular high calorie burning class taken by coach Trevor Lawn.  Classes are fun, motivating and easy to follow.


What to wear to any of the classes?  Something comfortable like you would if doing an athletic activity or going to a gym ie t-shirt / shorts / jogging bottoms.  If you are attending the BJJ 1 class and you own a gi (kimono), then you can wear that.


Note: You do not have to be a Gym member to join our classes.

We are situated within the Banks O Dee Sports Centre, Abbotswell Road, Aberdeen.

After a hard workout or a stressful day there's nothing better than relaxing in the sauna so why not treat yourself?


 

Aerobics Studio

Fully air conditioned offering a range of different classes to suit from beginner to advanced. Classes range from khai bo, body conditioning, circuits, spinning and much more.
